RULES
& GUIDELINES
DANCE
ATTIRE AND APPEARANCE
Ages 6 & under: solid
leotard of any color, skirt (optional), pink ballet slippers & black tap shoes
(if applicable).
Boys:
Black shorts or sweatpants, white T-shirt, black ballet shoes.
Grade
1: Light blue tank leotard.
Grade 2: Light blue tank leotard.
Grade 3: Navy
blue or hunter green tank leotard.
Grade 4: Navy blue tank leotard.
Grade
5: Navy blue tank leotard.
Grade 6, 7, & 8: Navy blue tank leotard.
Majors:
Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday's free choice of solid colored leotard. Every
Friday Majors ballet students are required to wear a black camisole or tank leotard.
(Majors will need to purchase a black camisole leotard through SBA for their examination).
*No
Skirts, shorts, etc. allowed for Grade 1 level and higher!
***All
older students must Have Hair Styled in a Classical
Bun or French Braid for Every Class and Rehearsal. All other students should
have their hair off their face and neck. Students with short hair should wear
hair in a headband.
***On
cold weather days a sweater may be worn during warm-ups.
REGISTRATION
FEE
A registration fee of $15.00 for first student and $10.00 for second
and third student, etc. The payment of this fee and a completed registration form
will reserve your place in the class.
TUITION
Tuition is due by the 10th of the month. After that time a $20.00
late fee will be applied to your next months tuition.
Full
payment need to be paid each month no matter if there are 3, 4 or 5 weeks.
Note:
The payment schedule isn't per family, but per student. Figure each students'
hours separately, then take the $5.00 off family discount each month for the second
& third child.
MISSED
CLASSES
There are no refunds for missed classes. Please call Earlet Meiners
at 376-3354 to make arrangements for a make-up lesson.
NEWSLETTERS
Periodically a Newsletter will be prepared for
all SBA students. It can be accessed via the internet at SBA website: www.schoolofballetarts.com.
If you would like a hard copy instead, please send a note in your payment envelope
with October's payment stating you would like a hard copy of all notes sent home.
Internet families,
please check the site monthly & when we get closer to recital and exam time, please
check it weekly.
BALLET
EXAMINATIONS
Each year students are selected to take Vocational Graded
Examinations (March or April) and every other year the students of SBA take Graded
examinations (April or May) as part of the curriculum.
STUDY
GUIDES
Students Gr. 3 & up need to purchase a syllabus for their studies.
Click here for more info. and how to order. Once the students
have their books they do not need to purchase them again. These guides will be
used during their entire education at SBA.
PERFECT
ATTENDANCE / 5 YEAR AND 10 YEAR STUDENTS
Awards for perfect attendance
will be given to students who attend every regular lesson. Students who have been
taking lessons at SBA for 5, 10, and 15 years will receive a trophy. The awards
will be presented on stage at the recital.
RECITAL
An annual recital is held at the end of every dance season. The dates for the
next recital are TBA for the dress rehearsal with performance in June TBA. The
recital will be held at UVSC.

The School of Ballet Arts has students from
three different districts, (sorry we can't accommodate everyone's holidays), we
will be observing the following Alpine School District Holidays and important
SBA dates:

POLICIES
AND STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Students are to wear the proper class attire (Label all dance
shoes, skirts and dance bags).
2.
Students are not allowed to bring gum, candy, peanuts
or peanut products, food or drink into the studio. But water bottles are recommended
for the students 10 & up. If possible, eat a nutritious snack before coming to
dance class, this improves performance and behavior.
3.
Students are not to run or play around in the studio. They are expected to respect
the rights and property of others, and to be obedient and courteous to their teacher
at all times.
4.
While in class students must maintain Ballet Etiquette:
-
a. Respectful behavior toward your teacher and class members is required.
- b.
Ballet barres are not to be climbed on or hanged on.
- c.
Wait quietly, and begin your own warm-up until your class begins.
- d.
Talking during class will not be permitted except during teacher led conversation.
- e. Students are expected to
try their best to complete every exercise with full energy. Note: Corrections
are given because your teacher cares, corrections are not to offend.
- Wear
proper attire and hair off neck and face.
5.
Students must wait inside the studio for their ride to arrive. Please inform your
child of this rule!! PARENTS...PLEASE BE PROMPT DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP YOUR
CHILD. Note: Dancers must be on time in order to warm-up their muscles up properly
to avoid injury and interruption of the class! We will try hard to be prompt in
finishing each class period!
6.
Tuition is to be paid in advance. Please return your payments in the proper tuition
envelope that's distributed the first month of your enrollment.. If you need to
arrange a specific payment period to fit your needs, contact the instructor. Please
see our webpage on fees to see all our payment options.
7.
Parents are welcome to observe the class occasionally during the last class of
each month. Please refrain from "coaching" and talking to other observers.
8.
Students must attend regularly. Regular attendance is necessary for progression.
Please contact the instructor if your child will not be present for class.
9.
The instructor will exercise care and supervision of the students while in the
class, but after the class has finished the instructor cannot and will not tend
a child. Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your child. Thank You!
10. Verbal messages to an instructor
often reduce valuable class time. If you have any questions concerning your child's
progression or any other concerns regarding dance lessons, please email at earlet@schoolofballetarts.com
or write a note and place it in your payment envelope.

Trade
Please contact Earlet via email to request trade options. Please note: All trades
must be documented each month, please turn-in blue trade card with your tuition
payment each month! Trades have a maximum of 50% off tuition and still required
to make a monthly payment and can only be done through a contract.
Please note: Only tuition can be traded. All other fees (examination, costume,
performance) must be paid.
Scholarship
Scholarship max per student is 25%; awarded through letter of request by the student
or parent in 100 words or less, why you should be a recipient. Only 10 scholarships
can be awarded each year. Deadline for request (email or snail mail only) is September
1st. All recipients will be notified by the second week in September.
Registration
fees are non-refundable!
Payments
due by 10th Semester payment discounts available. A few payment options available.

Late
Fee of $20.00 will be charged after the tenth of the month, unless other arrangements
have been made.
Full tuition due no matter the number of weeks in the month. No instruction given
once two months behind in tuition. Bill sent to collections at that point.

complete semester. (Two semesters- Fall: September thru December. Winter/Spring:
January thru May.
No
refunds given on costumes and examinations.
Payments must be completed by May 16th for student to participate in recital.
